I saw the new Wonka trailer and I thought what is better than writing a review on one of the movies? Now Charlie & The Chocolate Factory is based on a book that was written in 1964 by Roald Dahl. The movie starts with a boy named Charlie Bucket (Freddie Highmore). Charlie lived with his parents and grandparents in a tiny run-down house that is close to Willy Wonka’s Chocolate Factory. Now Charlie’s family was not rich, but poor with his father being the only one working in a toothpaste factory. One day, Willy Wonka (Johnny Depp) wanted to have a contest and invite five children into his factory and show them around but first, they had to find golden tickets that had been placed in five random Wonka bars that were hidden around the world. Now the first four who found the golden tickets are Augustus Gloop, Violet Beauregarde, Veruca Salt & Mike Teavee. Let me just say that their behaviors and attitudes are horrible. They were spoiled rotten kids, they were rude, mean, and selfish. I don’t mean the actors, they did an excellent job playing their roles. One day, after giving up all hope, Charlie found the last golden ticket which he bought with some money he found in the snow. Depp did an excellent job as Willy Wonka. We even get to see more of Wonka’s past as a child and his father. Charlie and the Chocolate Factory is a great example of showing kids how to love our family and forgive them and that money isn’t everything. It’s being with the people that you love is all that matters. Highmore was incredible playing Charlie he took the role seriously and showed true heart. This was only the beginning of his fantastic career. So for Charlie & The Chocolate Factory the 2005 movie, I give it an A+ for showing us that money isn’t everything… family is.
